Waiting for my dad's prescriptions at the pharmacy. It kinda looks like I'm in a cage, right? :-)

Day 142 (365)
Duke's face after realizing the week of vacation is over and it's only a matter of hours before we return to our lovely routines: wake---> school---> home---> sleep----> wake.
It really isn't that bad, we're approaching the end of the school year and being fed up is perfectly normal.

Day 141 (365)
self-portrait taken with really cheap keychain Vivitar camera. As much as the quality sucks, I like this picture :-)
Day 140 (365)
The cousins and freddy invaded my parents' house today. They're a little too loud and constantly texting each other... They're really sweet kids, though :-)

Day 139 (365)
Piano practice. Yes, I know it's a keyboard, but he practices on it at home because we save our baby grand piano for special occasions, but this keeps his little fingers moving.
Day 138 (365)
My sister-in-law has finally lost it and is a bit obsessed with shoes. I really liked this pair, so I asked her to pose.
Day 136 (365)
I had a terrible migraine today....the sensitivity to light and noise kept me indoors today. This was my view from the couch, where I spent the better part of the day.
Day 135 (365)
The middle school search nightmare. We have started to receive responses from the 12 schools we applied to for the next school year. Unfortunately, we got a letter from the Center School today saying that they couldn't offer a placement for Duke next fall. His immediate reaction was disappointment's, because he really liked the school when we visited in October. Anger immediately followed and he wrote this lovely message.
**Update**
The next morning he was over it and that same afternoon we received acceptance letters from two other top middle schools. We've already made a choice and both agree that this was fate. Besides, it's the Center School's loss.

Day 134 (365)
I went to the Earthday celebration next to Grand Central and met pop artist Michael Albert. He is quite a character, and very talented. I was impressed by the way he memorized and recited the Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I have a dream' speech. I first saw one of his pieces at DTUT and it caught my attention because it was made from candy and cookie wrappers. I thought it was pretty cool. I'm glad I met him, he even signed a copy of his book with a supercool sketch I'll show later :-)
Day 133 (365)
The sweet smile of my nephew Elias, one of the rare occasions he actually posed for me.
Day 132 (365)
Because April is National Poetry month, public schools around the city celebrate "Poem in your Pocket" today. Ms. G always takes it a step further and has her little sweeties wear their poems instead. This is just a few of the wonderful poems that came from her class.

Day 130 (365)
This little boy was throwing a tantrum at the 125th street station on the 4 line. He refused to move even after the train pulled into the station. I admire the mom, or caretaker, for not losing her cool and ignoring the looks people gave them. Although I never really went through that with Duke I have witnessed lots of tantrums in my line of work and they aren't pretty :-)

Day 129 (365)
I ran into Crystal and Grandma in the elevator. I hadn't taken my picture for the day so this is it. Notice grandma's face. That's her reaction to Duke's hair :-)

Day 128 (365)
Mirror Duke. Tired and sad that the weekend is gone, but still humors me by posing for my picture of the day. Thanks kiddo :-)
Day 127 (365)
99¢ Donuts pyramid...not much more I can say to describe this. I saw this and I though about the We Demand Donuts group, and couldn't resist. I'm not sure I would eat these, I mean, donuts are bad for you to begin with, just imagine what they put into something they sell for 99 cents a dozen :-)

Day 126 (365)
Today Duke reached a milestone during in his swimming lesson. He got the courage to dive into the deep end of the pool (12 feet). He was quite nervous, but once he jumped the fear was gone and he jumped a few more times. I'm really proud of him! :-P .... this picture doesn't really show how happy he was, because he was so cold. But he could hardly wait to tell his grandparents.

Day 125 (365)
I'm not sure how to describe this one. This bug stopped next to me for a split second while I dismissed my students. I didn't have time to do anything but to whip out my camera and shoot, then it flew away. I'm not exactly sure what's going on with the smaller bug in attached to back.....I still think it's interesting :-)
Day 124 (365)
This is Isaac's diorama about dolphins. He is a second grader at my job who is extremely brilliant. I love the fact that he included a mirror in his diorama. he was really prod of it and asked to be in the picture. I couldn't really include him but this was close enough.
Day 123 (365)
I had a meeting at PS 35X on the corner of East 163rd Street and Morris Avenue. Built in 1900 this is a strange building with awkward sinks in random places and narrow hallways. But my favorite oddity is the engraved street names on its corners.
Day 122 (365)
The new Yankee stadium. This is the view from the 4 train right before it stops at 161st Street. Probably could've taken a better composed shot, but the train was moving and I wasn't holding on to anything, and miraculously I didn't fall given my accident-prone nature :-)

Day 114 (365)
This is my latest postcard.
For those of you who don't know, I have joined postcrossing.com, a website that allows you to send and receive snail-mail postcards from all over the world. This one is from FInland (Thanx again Riikka). I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it's cool knowing it came all the way from Finland....I know, I'm a dork :-)

Day 113 (365)
So much trunk space, you can fit four kids in it :-P
(left to right) Robbie, Emily, Briana and Duke covering his face from embarrassment :-)
The kids loved the Autoshow at the Javits Center. It was quite an experience and thanks to Nao's patience no one was hurt. Thank you for putting up with my craziness :-)

Day 112 (365)
My niece Emily playing a just-for-girls, probably about make up, dress up or Barbies. Notice the look on Duke's face...he he.
Day 111 (365)
More evidence of changes in the Bronx. A 7eleven recently opened on the Grand Concourse and 149th street.
Day 110 (365)
I went to see a Knicks game with Duke, Brown and his friend. I tend to be bored at sporting events, especially at baseball games, but basketball is fast-paced enough for me not to fall asleep like I did at the Mets game :-) It was an interesting game because Duke was rooting for the Heat.
Final Score (overtime)
Knicks 103
Heat 96
